Frequently Asked Questions About Emergency HVAC Services

Find answers to common questions about emergency HVAC repair and 24/7 HVAC services.

How long does it take for an emergency HVAC technician to arrive?

The response time of an emergency HVAC technician can vary based on factors such as the contractor's availability, your location, and current demand. However, reputable emergency HVAC services strive to respond to calls as promptly as possible. It's important to contact a few different providers to find an available technician who can arrive quickly.

What is a dehumidifier, and do I need one?

A dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air, reducing humidity and preventing mold. High humidity can make your home feel hotter and stickier. A dehumidifier can help to maintain comfortable humidity levels. If you have high humidity levels throughout your home, consult with an HVAC professional about installing a whole-house dehumidifier.

What is carbon monoxide, and how can it affect my HVAC system?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas that is dangerous when inhaled. Furnaces and other fuel-burning equipment produce carbon monoxide if they malfunction. CO can leak into your home if the heat exchanger in a furnace is cracked. HVAC maintenance checks can detect CO risks. CO detectors save lives.

How do I maintain my air conditioner?

Regular maintenance is essential for keeping your AC unit in top condition. Perform these basic maintenance tasks:
  • Change or clean air filters every 1-3 months.
  • Clear debris from around the outdoor unit.
  • Check and clean the evaporator coil (if accessible).
  • Inspect refrigerant lines for leaks.
It's also advisable to have a professional HVAC technician perform an annual or biannual tune-up.
